Overview
The New World Symphony is one of the happiest pieces of music ever written on these shores. Dvorak loved the United States and also planned to write an opera titled Hiawatha. This was never completed but the intensely beautiful melodies in the middle of this work, very likely started as the idyllic love themes for Minnehaha and Hiawatha. In keeping with our New World theme, we will include American Salute, a wonderful patriotic panache by Morton Gould. Top performers from our Young Artists Competition will bring us movements from Jaëll's Cello Concerto and Beethoven's powerful Third Piano Concerto.

Featured Soloist
Logan Keeley

Cellist, pianist, and state-winning composer Logan Keeley is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in composition at San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studies under Dr. David Conte - a renowned composer and former pupil of Nadia Boulanger. Logan seeks to advocate for music and use music for advocacy: his compositions invite listeners to reflect on themes of social, political, and environmental justice; his performance repertoire includes a marked emphasis on contemporary and neglected works; and he is an active member of a musical outreach and education club. Logan has worked with notable cellists Brannon Cho and Richard Aaron; and he is thankful for the instruction of his teacher Dr. Mara Finkelstein.
Featured Soloist
Maxwell Buerger

Maxwell Buerger, Bremerton native and former principal second violinist of the Bremerton Symphony Youth Orchestra, returns to the stage for his solo piano debut with the Bremerton WestSound Symphony. He began his musical studies at the age of eleven and has cultivated a lasting passion for classical music ever since. Maxwell extends his sincere gratitude to Max Karler (Bremerton High School), Allan Anderson (Mountain View Middle School), Gwen Taylor (Violin), Dr. Paul-Elliot Cobbs (Tacoma Youth Symphony Association, retired), and Dr. Irene Bowling (Piano) for their guidance and support through his musical journey. Maxwell holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington where he studied Materials Science and Engineering.
