This weekend you will hear nine of the finest young piano virtuosi in Kitsap County and a wonderful classical saxophonist.
On March 14th, 20 Kitsap-area students competed in the 2026 Bremerton WestSound Symphony Young Artists Competition. The level of playing by all our contestants was phenomenal and choosing winners at this level is both a challenge and a delight for our judges.
Our students and their teachers have brought us a very interesting selection of repertoire from the classics of Beethoven to the thorny modernism of Shostakovich. Highlights not to be missed include;
Chopin’s Ballade No. 4 performed by Alec Rodriguez,
The fireworks of Schubert’s Fantasie in F for four hands with the brothers Cyrus and Clarence Yan,
The jaunty Gallic joie de vivre of Jacque Ibert’s Concertino da camera for Saxophone with Daniel Watson, and
Franz Liszt’s Grand Etude #3, on Paganini’s “La campanella” with Cyrus Yan.
Other winning musicians include Ilyannie Robelle T. Gonzalez, Ruth Harvey, Chaz Niles, Dana Goodwin, Nawat Kumsom, and Zachary Edwards performing works by Beethoven, Chopin, Shostakovich, Scriabin, and Rachmaninoff.
See you this Sunday in Poulsbo!
