Three Centuries
of Orchestra Hits
Sunday, June 7th • 3:00 PM
Single tickets available September 15
Overview
Prepare for an extraordinary musical journey through three centuries of orchestral and choral masterpieces. The program opens with the regal grandeur of Handel’s Zadok the Priest and the haunting intensity of Verdi’s Witches’ Chorus from Macbeth, followed by the seductive mystery of Strauss’ Dance of the Seven Veils and the vibrant rhythms of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances. After intermission, the spiritual warmth of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio sets a contemplative mood, leading into the classical brilliance of Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 and Mozart’s majestic Jupiter Symphony. The evening deepens with the emotional weight of Mozart’s Requiem: Lacrimosa and Beethoven’s transcendent Ninth Symphony. Journey continues with the dramatic flair of Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique, Brahms’ monumental Symphony No. 1, and Tchaikovsky’s passionate Fifth Symphony. The energy swells with Dvořák’s evocative New World Symphony and Sibelius’ stirring Second Symphony finale, culminating in the profound intensity of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony. Delicate colors emerge in Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, followed by the fiery brilliance of Stravinsky’s Firebird and the ultimate conclusion of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. This sweeping program promises an unforgettable celebration of the development, diversity, and emotion of orchestral music’s greatest treasures.
